Screen Music
Westworld (HBO)
Spitfire Audio Scoring Competition
I scored this cue from HBO's Westworld series as part of Spitfire Audio's composition competition of 2020. I used tertiary shifts in the harmony along with instrumental cues to convey the change in scenes and progression of the action. The use of deep brass and percussion are used to build a dark of atmosphere and the electronic bass patterns mirror the futuristic aspect of the setting.
The Adventures of Tintin
Title Theme Sketch
I have taken the opening sequence to The Adventures of Tintin - The Secret of the Unicorn and overlaid it with my own sketch intended as a demo for the Title Theme.
This opening theme gradually builds with more musical layers to create rising excitement. I have produced a suspenseful atmosphere through use of tremolando strings, augmented 5th chords, and whole tone melodic passages. The bass riff helps keep the rhythm flowing and provides a strong pulse. Using the saxophone and glockenspiel portrays the mysterious feel of the film and the end of the theme leaves the audience anticipating more.
Charlie Chaplin Style Adverts
Commission Work
I was commissioned by a local chiropractic to write music to accompany some new adverts for their social channels. They were filmed in a black & white style similar to the classic Charlie Chaplin comics and wanted similar styled music to accompany. I decided to use a honkey-tonk piano and double bass for support and composed using musical techniques of that style such as syncopation and extended harmony.
